Artifact 1: Lesson Plan #2 - Composition
In October, I taught a lesson on composition. The idea of composition is very important because it is seen everywhere in the design world. From their own projects, to large graphic design companies. This lesson allowed students to dip their toes into the idea of planning and layout in order to make something visually successful. This was a lesson that connected to many disciplines and will help every student in the future. An element of the concept was the tool, Rule of Thirds, which was a template to help lay out objects in a balanced way. The Rule of Thirds brought in mathematical practices. Another element was a video showing composition through many different artists and later on, motivated students to do their own research to learn about new artists.
Artifact 2: Interdisciplinary Unit Project
The Interdisciplinary Unit Project was my favorite part during my time with the other CSU students because we were able to collaborate on desires and goals. Social Studies, Spanish, English, Music and Art lessons were designed to emphasize the importance of learning about different cultures, specifically, the Mexican Culture. This Unit will allow students who celebrate the Mexican Culture a great platform to share experiences and be heard while other students get an opportunity to learn about a culture they are not apart of. It is so important to take interest in ALL of the students lives outside of the classroom, so this artifact is very successful to help establish a safe, respectable, and inclusive environment.
